One of the nice features of TiVo® (Series 2 and above) is the Home Media Option which allows you to playback photos and music that reside on your PC or Mac right in your TiVo user interface.
Now with ReadyDLNA (available with RAIDiator 4.1.5+ for the ReadyNAS NV+, NV, Duo, 1100, X6, and 600 and soon to be available on the x86 platform), you have the option of doing the same thing, straight from your ReadyNAS. So you can now turn off your computer and let the low-power-consuming, stream-everything ReadyNAS stream your media straight to your TiVo. And do it very easily.
Here’s the quick-step instructions.
Step 1 – Enable ReadyDLNA service on your ReadyNAS
In FrontView, go to the Services→Streaming Services tab, enable the ReadyDLNA service, check the Enable TiVo® support option, and click Apply. ReadyDLNA will perform an auto-scan of your media files in the background.
Step 2 – Select the ReadyNAS on TiVo
On the TiVo, browse to the TiVo Central→Music, Photos, & Showcases page, and select the ReadyNAS. The screenshot below shows music and photos on ANAKIN2 which is a PC running the HMO service, and you can see the ReadyNAS entries right below ANAKIN2′s.
Select what you want to play or watch and you’re done!
Enjoy!
