NETGEAR is pleased to announce the release of RAIDiator 4.2.7 (x86), an update firmware for the ReadyNAS Pro Business Edition, Pro Pioneer, NVX, NVX Pioneer, 2100, and 3200 network attached storage product lines.
The simplest way to update is to use the System/Update/Remote tab in Frontview. If you prefer, you can choose to do a local update by first downloading the new image here: RAIDiator-x86-4.2.7. We recommend that you update your ReadyNAS to this latest RAIDiator release to ensure your ReadyNAS is running with all the latest bug fixes and enhancements.
Please be warned that once you upgrade to 4.2.7, you cannot downgrade back to 4.2.5.
The following are changes since RAIDiator 4.2.5.
New features
- iSCSI now supports persistent reservation. To support PR, you’ll need to specify iSCSI initiator IQN(s) in the Access Control list in FrontView. This is new in 4.2.7.
- Added support for greater than 16 TB volume size. This is currently possible only on the 12-bay ReadyNAS 3200.
- Full NT ACLs permission now preserved over CIFS. This allows ACLs to be backed up to the ReadyNAS and restored correctly. Please keep in mind that permissions are still limited to POSIX ACLs on the ReadyNAS due to the Linux filesystem limitation.
- Added Rsync exclusion list.
- Added multiple media folder and content filtering support for ReadyDLNA.
- ReadyNAS Vault has been enhanced to allow direct restore back to the ReadyNAS, compression to speed up transfers, better status reporting, auto-updates, and the cloud management system now supports German, Chinese (Simplified), Korean, French, and Japanese.
- Added auto-complete for user and group names when entering access restriction for shares.
- Added workaround to support WD RE4 2TB disks. These disks have a tendency to drop out of RAID without this workaround.
- Enhanced power button LED feedback on the ReadyNAS 3200.
- Added CPS UPS support.
- Added Secure Erase option for RAIDar during factory default, allowing disks to be securely erased in parallel. This requires RAIDar 4.1.7 (or beta release T7 or later).
- Improve SNMP response time.
- Updated to ReadyDLNA 0.16.
- Network teaming page has been enhanced with status info for individual interfaces in the team.
Bug fixes
- Modified AFP support to allow for Snow Leopard compatibility with extended attributes. This resolves permission problems when downloaded files like *.dmg are copied to the ReadyNAS. See limitation below for home shares.
- Fixed Bonjour advertising where the ReadyNAS may not be registered properly during boot time.
- Fixed share creation when CIFS service is disabled.
- Fixed several ReadyNAS Remote issues reported by users.
- Fixed teaming support when bonding two interfaces with different MTU.
Limitations
- IE 6 no longer supported. Please update to IE 7 or 8.
- Volume expansion will not work beyond 16 TB. To support 16 TB or greater, you’ll have to factory default with that capacity in place.
- Permission errors of files downloaded from the Internet can occur when accessing home shares over AFP with Snow Leopard. If you encounter this, you can install the add-on Toggle_AFP_SL_Compat_Homes_0.1-x86.bin to avoid this error.
- HP iSCSI initiator is not supported with the default iSCSI initiator. If you wish to use this initiator, you can switch back to the legacy iSCSI target server in RAIDiator 4.2.5 by installing the add-on Toggle_iSCSI_Server_0.2-x86.bin.
- iSCSI targets with colons in their names currently do not work with CHAP authentication.
- Snapshot resizing has been disabled in the release. We will re-enable this feature in a future update.
