As a fellow Mac user myself, I want to keep all of you Mac-heads up to date with the recently announced OS X “Lion” release and what that means with regard to compatibility with the ReadyNAS.

If you are using a x86-based ReadyNAS system (Ultra 2/4/6 [Plus], Pro 2/4/6, Pro Pioneer, Pro Business, NVX, NVX Pioneer, 1500, 2100, 3100, 3200, 4200), you’ll need to update to RAIDiator 4.2.19.  If you are using a ReadyNAS Duo/NV+ or past sparc-based systems (600, X6, 1000S, 1100), you’ll need to update to RAIDiator 4.1.8.  With these releases, AFP and Time Machine will work just fine.

If you choose not to update to 4.2.19, AFP access will still work, but Time Machine backups will fail.

Follow yohdah on Twitter so you’ll get the latest announcement as quickly as I type.

All the Best,

Yoh-dah
