Tests
Test criteria:
- Benchmark tests are run in default mode and jumbo frames mode.
- Test client systems are configured with a 3-disk RAID 0 to ensure the client disk is not a bottleneck.
- Test data size of 9 GB is used for all tests to avoid caching of data both on the ReadyNAS side and the client side.
- Both the ReadyNAS and the client are rebooted before each test, and the first results are recorded. This allows numbers that are easier to reproduce, and again avoids any caching of data to ensure a more thorough analysis of the speed of the ReadyNAS.
The following tests are run:
- IOMeter Sequential 256K block reads and writes over CIFS, using Windows 7.
- Drag & Drop over CIFS, using Windows 7.
- Drag & Drop over AFP, using Mac OS X.
- IOMeter Sequential 256K block reads and writes over iSCSI, using Windows 2008 Server R2 iSCSI initiator.
- Drag & Drop over iSCSI using Windows 2008 Server R2 iSCSI initiator.
