VMWare offline during resync?

VMWare offline during resync?

Postby glassware » Mon Aug 08, 2011 8:19 am

It seems like every time the ReadyNAS has to resync, my VMWare servers go offline due to the delays in getting ISCSI responses. This makes it practically impossible to do any raid extension.

Any ideas? It doesn't seem like adding a new disk should automatically take down VMWare...

I'm investigating in more detail. From reading through some of the forums, it seems like 10gbe has sometimes been reported to have errors. I am making a change: I'm connecting both a single 1gbe and a 10gbe connection. When I applied this new connection, VMWare notified me that it "prefers" the single gbe connection - maybe that means my 10gbe is flaky somehow?

EDIT: It appears to be caused by the 10gbe connection. Allowing multiple paths and enabling one 1gbe connection alongside the 10gbe one has worked wonders.

Using one or two 10Ge links? Using multipathing on 10Ge?
