Using VMware ESXI4 and are in the process of upgrading to ESXi5. We have 2 Hosts connected to the same NFS share on the NAS.
We have 2 Guests using the VMware datastore located on the NFS share.
On Host1 and Host2 (still on ESXi4) VMware reported "nas_datastore Capacity=2.70T Free=2.63T"
We noticed the issue after upgrading VMware Host1 to ESXi5 while Host2 is still using ESXi4.
What my assistant did was as followed:
Shutdown all Guests on Host1.
Migrate Guest1 and Guest2 in NFS data store on Host1 to Host2.
Did and In-Place Upgrade of Host1 to ESXi5. (no issues with upgrade)
**All settings looked fine at this time**
Migrate Guest1 and Guest2 to back to Host1 in the NFS share.
Power on Guest1 and Guest2.
A few minutes later on Host1(now ESXi5) VMware reported "nas_datastore Capacity=2.70T Free=18.9T"
Assistant check readyNAS and saw "Volume C: Online, X-RAID2, 4 disks, -589% of 2759 GB used"
Host2 (ESXi4) is reporting "nas_datastore Capacity=2.70T Free=18.9T" also.
We are making sure not to use more than our allotted 2.7T but should we worry in the meantime?
Thanks,
