Replicate back-up jobs always incomplete - skipped lines

ReadyNAS Replicate simplifies the replication of that data to another ReadyNAS whether the two systems are on the same LAN or whether they are a world apart.

Replicate back-up jobs always incomplete - skipped lines

Postby mark.j.wagstaff » Tue Jun 19, 2012 7:49 pm

I am testing Replicate to back-up 2 NVX boxes to a single 6 bay Pro. I have run numerous test Back-Up jobs and not one has copied over the full contents of the source share (even from the initial back-up). All machines are running the latest firmware.

Back-ups are configured without enryption and without compression. The Replicate report and the e-mail notification always report success.

One strangeness I have noticed in the report is the "Lines Missed" in the "Files Copied" section of the report. See example below (my asterisks added to highlight the line). Does anyone know what this is referring to?

Thanks in advance.

Starting backup job "immed test of misc"
Replicate addon version: 1.1.3 build R1
Create target folder: /c/HNVXMisc/immed test of misc
Locking target folder: /c/HNVXMisc/immed test of misc
Making full backup
Restart p2p service
p2p connect to H-NVX in 694040 network
Connection method: 2
LAN connection available
Get LAN credentials
Sending task to source device
Awaiting task report
Received success report
Using LAN connection
Initializing snapshot on source device
Sending task to source device
Awaiting task report
Received success report
Snapshot not requested. Backup can be inconsistent
Snapshot initialization finished
Copy in progress
Copy finished
Rotate backups (1)
Deinitializing snapshot on source device
Sending task to source device
Awaiting task report
Received success report
Snapshot deinitialization finished
p2p disconnect with H-NVX in 694040 network
Unlock target folder: /c/HNVXMisc/immed test of misc
Job finished

Completed:
**** [2012-06-20 08:38] Skipped 12200 lines ****
[2012-06-20 08:38] /c/Misc/munroes/routes/.AppleDouble/An Caisteal and Beinn a'Chroin, near Crianlarich (Walk Highlands).pdf

In my opinion lines skipped means that it's doing an incremental procedure.

That sounds logical. If that is the case, this is extremely worrying as this report is from the first time I had run this job!

I assumed it was because the logs were so long, it would create an exceptionally large email, so it was truncating the log to avoid that....

I believe there is a setting in Remote to adjust the detail in the logs. I'm not sure if this affects Replicate also. I'll test it.

It's not skipping files.. only truncating the logs..

cap1: when you say send you the logs, where from? Do you mean the system logs from frontview or the replicate report.

MALmen: so, if I set the Replicate and Remote reporting option to full debug I should see all lines?

Thank you for your assistance.
