It is on a UPS - I would just rather not have to worry about any potential issue while I'm gone. Sure, many are running it without issues, but I don't want that risk.

As others pointed out in other threads, with this being a MAJOR version release, it should not be done lightly. I can understand point releases being "auto updated", but they should have still put the brakes on (at least for a couple of days for auto-install) for a major release.

Hmmm, this is what I get for not checking the boards since my upgrade. So far, no problems with P1. Mostly accessing via Leopard, Tiger, XP and Vista. Not a single problem with 4 750GB discs. The expansion took about 2 days, but that was the only concern (oooh, an extra 40gigs!). Anyway, now that I'm reading this I'm getting concerned, but again, no problems at all. Only noticed my fan noise was louder, but that's about it.

I would also say that I suspect memory usage is higher as well in the new version 4p1 release. The reason I say that is with the standard 256MB RAM the unit definitely runs slightly slower that it did before but I'd also found that when upgrading a number of my Linux Servers from a 2.4 to a 2.6 kernel.

But upon upgrading to 1GB RAM the system has picked up in speed and feels more responsive. Still slow for file transfers using rsync over ssh but I'd expect it to. These boxes weren't really designed for running encryption protocols on top of their regular file transfer process.

But for anybody thinking about upgrading the memory, I'd definitely recommend it! Definitely worth it, even more so if you're thinking of running the likes of PHP etc as well

Postby lagosr » Tue Dec 04, 2007 10:17 am

i started it before i went to bed.
this morning, the machine is dead.
no lights, nothing.

how disappointing.

Will it not power back on? Re-syncing is disk intensive and I had a drive overheat recently while doing it (4.0 runs my fans slower than 3.0 did). Check the logs.

:P Nice write up in PC mag for the Netgear NV+, it made editors choice, maybe now Yodah can get more resources to get the new 4.0 build finished and reliable.

Good luck

i will send them once i can get back into the machine.

It does not power up, so i can't get anything.

Called Tech support, and they tried to tell me that it was out of warranty. Which it is not. Finally got an RMA for the power supply.

Sorry for the RMA hassle. Please let's know if anything is wrong after PSU replacement, thanks.

Connectionloss with two users in 4c1p1

Postby Ivo Tops » Fri Dec 07, 2007 3:26 am

When my kids are watching a video that is played from the NAS through NFS and I copy some files (20 files totalling 200MB) to the ReadyNAS the videoplayer immediately stops playing. Presumably because it no longer gets enough data or conncetion lost. Restarting the same video after the copy works.

I never had this with the 3 versions. It is a ReadyNAS NV and I copy files from Vista while playing videos using a TViX5000A over NFS

If this is a new unsolved problem I will be happy to upload logfiles of so.

Anyone else get the automatic update to the version 4.00 c1-P1?

I am assuming it was an error. I'm currently copying everything off the Readynas in preparation for a rebuild with version 3...

Yoh-Dah, will this release solve some of the other issues associated with 4.00 C1-P1?

I'd expect so. Otherwise what's the point?
