It is accessed as another webserver on the ReadyNAS, currently on port 8080. Right now you can load up the download manager and paste the torrent into the Add URL or Add File.

It can handle multiples. I had about 20 going the other day on a 3mbit DSL line, was eating all the bandwidth it could.

Temperture Promlems after Firmware update

Postby kcarlasc » Thu Feb 07, 2008 6:00 am

I applied the latest Beta firmware and now my unit keeps turning itself off after a few hours with heat errors from the drives. Never the same drive twice in a row...

Have recalibrated the fans and cleaned the vents...

Never had a problem with heat prior to this beta

Hi!

Is there any date set when the final release of this comes out?

In the final release will the interface (direct to port 8080) require the same authentication as the admin interface?

Not sure, currently the BT daemon has no authentification.

Downloaded and installed the new beta. The Bittorrent support is just amazing - Well done guys, very impressive!!!

The other thing thats new is the UPS threshold support in the power options - strange how there is no mention of this anywhere but its a very useful feature.

Roll on more betas and the final.

Hi chirpa,

One last question about the BitTorrent (yeah, right!). I decided to take the plunge and upgraded to the beta firmware and am now downloading a torrent.

In the "Installed Add-ons" section of FrontView, the add-on gives the end-user the capability to download to a share and folder (currently the share is 'media' and the folder is 'Videos').

However, after starting the download, I notice that the torrent has not created any directory or files in the Video folder. I ssh'd into the NAS and found that the files are being dumped in the /c/.bittorrent directory.

Am I correct in assuming that the files are being temporarily stored in the .bittorrent folder until the download is complete and upon completion, the files will be moved into the 'Videos' directory on the 'media' share?

Thanks.

Yep, the files will not show up in the final destination until the torrent is completely downloaded.

There is something seriously wrong with this latest beta firmware. I've just had 4 fun filled hours whilst one of my NV+ boxes went totally screwy during a disable of the bittorrent service.

Three filesystem checks, a firmware reinstall and a resync later I am at the point where I can setup up my config again and hopefully I'm back in business.

All I did was uncheck the bittorrent service and click Apply! Suddenly various options in the admin interface stopped working, blank sections appeared in admin pages and I lost SSH access. After one particular reboot, CIFS access was gone along with Admin page access.

At one point, after a shutdown from the front button, hard drives spun down all was silent but the front screen was still lit and said Booting... Wuh!?

So, lesson learnt - no more messing with my main box (especially before doing a backup!).

The bittorrent client looks very promising but I'll give up on it for now and wait for a more mature version. I have no idea why it went downhill but I would be very very careful with this new firmware!
