4.1.8-T5: apt-get gone?

Postby lasseoe » Tue Jul 26, 2011 6:14 am

It's possible that apt-get disappeared in 4.1.7 or earlier, but I haven't used it in what seems like years so can't be sure, either way it's not there now :-(
God knows what else might be missing.

Is this an issue with 4.1.8-T5 or is it specific to my installation (which btw is very generic, only rootlogin add-on, and has always worked flawlessly apart from being slow) ?

APT is not included in the firmware by default on Sparc ReadyNAS. If you did a factory reset since you've last installed it, you'll need to install it again.

You can try installing the APT add-on (http://www.readynas.com/download/addons/4.00/APT_1.0.bin) via System > Update > Local in Frontview.

NB: A ReadyNas is not an excuse not to have a backup. Fire, theft, multiple disk failures, other hardware failure, floods, user negligence etc. can all result in loss of data.
