The link is down, must have posted it a bit early or just testing the page.

Specs look good, all that remains now is the price which we most likely won't get until CES time.

What I always wonder is - how well do they deal with large pictures? What's the horsepower on the CPU? In order for these to really replace a HTPC, they I would like to be able to browse through my digital camera pictures (2-10MP) and just view them without having to convert them. I've tried with a bunch of devices that claim to view pictures, but anything above 2MP, and it's a test of patience. Flipping through pictures to find the one that you want to show? Forget it!

Anyone have any experience with the EVA 8000?

No experience, but it all depends on the software.
Picassa as a picture browser on my PC is blindingly fast, even with 10M RAW files.
Nothing else comes anywhere near its speed, and that's doing the display conversion, too.
That's even on a 1.7G laptop and 100Mbit network, it's just stunning performance.

Thumbs+, Microsoft RAW viewer, Lightroom - all are slow.
Canon Digital Photo Professional and ZoomBrowser aren't even worth installing.

This definitely looks sweet, and if it's priced competitively compared to the Popcorn Hour (which I kinda doubt seeing the current price of the EVA-8000), I would consider getting one of these.

looks pretty cool, I got a PCH-A110 it's good for the price (still rough around the edges...) The PCH took about 10 minutes to setup and watch movie. the PCH lets me browse the file system no need for some media software. The biggest short coming is audio on the pch. I tried the dlink DSM-510 , it had a nice foot print but trying to get it to work was futile... I hope that it's netgear it'll work well with readynas NV+.

Hmmm, at 400 dollars, it's way too expensive, even with an included 500gb hard drive. It almost feels like they're using the same strategy as they did with the ReadyNAS Pro where they're bundling a hard drive someone may not necessarily want. I think at this point, the Popcorn Hour seems like a more viable option. The only thing it's missing that the Netgear EVA9150 is providing is built-in wireless. I hope they do that at the next update... maybe incorporate Netflix streaming as well since more and more units are doing so.
