Readynas 4200 lost password

Postby theJonson » Tue Oct 19, 2010 7:47 am

It seams I can not remember changing the admin password one of my readynas 4200s.

It certainly is not accepting the default admin and netgear1

I have looked at the reinstall firmware option, but how will this affect the iSCSI volumes that are on the unit, the guides only reference the CIFS share side of things.

I have also tried the /password_recovery site and it says that it has send a new password out, but I never receive it, and as I don't remember setting up the SMTP address for it to use I doubt that it will work.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

You can perform OS Reinstall to reset the admin password.

Performing a firmware re-install will not affect your iSCSI volumes and data. It will reset the admin password, and set your network settings back to DHCP (if you had teaming setup, that bond will be broken).

The boot menu steps are in the hardware user manual, also available here: http://home.bott.ca/webserver/?p=281
