Locked files on CIFS (SMB) access

Postby viktord » Tue Mar 20, 2012 4:16 am

hi all,

i'm using a ReadyNAS Ultra 6 with Windows access via CIFS (SMB) without user registration (password)

on using "PC Kaufmann" database, this is locking if one user get access. On a Windows Server it does not.
smbd.log tells me a lot of "Authentication for user [WindowsUserName] -> [WindowsUserName] FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER

have i to create all that [WindowsUserName]s on the ReadyNAS wo Password for get proper working? Or why the database file is get locked?
or that due to "oplock"?

looks like that error is coming from that "oplock" on CIFS

Hi all,

I just checked my smbd.log, because both my harddisks are kept from spinning down in some way.

It just says: (all day long, about 1000 entries)
[2012/07/24 18:20:51, 2] auth/auth.c:check_ntlm_password(319)
check_ntlm_password: Authentication for user [Guest] -> [Guest] FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER
[2012/07/24 18:20:51, 2] auth/auth.c:check_ntlm_password(319)
check_ntlm_password: Authentication for user [Guest] -> [Guest] FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER
[2012/07/24 18:21:12, 2] auth/auth.c:check_ntlm_password(319)
check_ntlm_password: Authentication for user [Guest] -> [Guest] FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER
[2012/07/24 18:21:12, 2] auth/auth.c:check_ntlm_password(319)

The question is, where do those login attempts come from? I disconnected my internet access, shut down every PC and device at home...

Any ideas?
Thanks!!!
