PS3 Adding UPnP A/V Support

Postby rkalla » Wed May 23, 2007 10:07 am

This is pretty hot news, but the 1.80 Firmware update to the PS3 will add full streaming support for any DLNA3-enabled device (which I believe includes the ReadyNAS NV+ doesn't it?)

Quick Facts:
* Upscaling Playstation, Playstation 2 and DVDs to 1080p
* Ability to stream Images, Music, Movies from a DLNA3-enabled (UPnP A/V) device
* Remote Play on PSP over the Internet (Basically allows you to play anything from PS3, using PSP, from anywhere with a internet connection)

I've been using TVersity to stream to my XBox 360 and it's less than stellar to say the least... the idea that *one* of the consoles is going to get real UPnP A/V support is cool.

PS3 and UpNP support

Postby sean0connor » Fri Jul 20, 2007 3:02 am

How did you go with testing this. I am not having alot of success with the Infrant MediaServer and the PS3. Its down to some support issues in the PS3 I believe.

Any shared experience failed of success would be useful.

i have been toying with this on fw 1.84 on ps3.

the ready nas does show, but i cannot open any files, looks like it needs permissions.

I have not tried the Home Media Streaming Server on NAS yet,
will do so tonight.

Meob,
None of us have had success with ReadyNAS built in support and PS3, we've all had to use different solutions, for me it was buying Twonky, that worked like a charm.

I've just had some success streaming music and pictures from my XP PC to my PS3 - that never used to work. Not sure if my ReadyNAS+ will now magically work or not. Will try it later.
