Need for PS3 Support

Postby peters » Thu Jun 07, 2007 7:33 am

So, I have at least three Infrant ReadyNas NVs. I have also sold/installed about a dozen more for various clients. Love this thing to death!

For streaming I am using the IOData LP2 and the EVA8000 (beta software still evolving). I have also purchased a PS3, as have at least three of my clients - who are now calling trying to get their HD content (recorded with a Nextcomwireless R5000HD) to play using their PS3 (which is supposedly DLNA friendly).

Seems it works from Media Player on a PC, but the entire idea of the ReadyNas was that it would play without the need for an intermediary PC.

Is this something in the works? Is there a beta one can be a part of to ensure this works properly when launched?

Hey, I know you guys just got bought out (congrats by the way - couldn't be happier as I love Netgear products as well). However, given the size of the PS3 in the marketplace, really looking for some definitive answers.

Thanks :!:

I believe the latest beta version of TwonkyMedia includes PS3 support. I have not tried it out because I do not have a PS3 and everything seems to be working fine with xbox360 and version 4.3. Anyway, here is the link to the version 4.4b3:

Not interested in a software solution. Need to have it supported in the ReadyNAS!

TwonkyMedia does run from the ReadyNAS... no need for a PC.

If the problem has been solved in 3rd party software on the NAS side, does that categorically mean it's a NAS problem rather than a PS3 problem? So we can nag Infrant rather than Sony for a fix.

As much as I want to get this working, I dont really want to buy more software since the ReadyNas already cost a fair bit.

well i just installed 1.84 fw update for the ps3.

now windows media connect & my NV+ & Twonky all now appear in the movies / pics menu - cool!

cant seem to access anythign direct off the NAS since it seems to want credentials and I dont think there is a way to do tis via the ps3.

i think its gonna be a update on the ps3 side more than the NAS side we need.....

according to "Han Solo" PS3 streaming service (DLNA support) is in beta. Lets hope this is good and true news.
