ReadyNAS: Pro
I have kind of a newbie question. I just hooked up my Pioneer Pro, and I have hooked it up to my network. I created a share named "Media" and created three folders in the root: VIDEO, MUSIC, and PICTURES. I added some mp4's to the VIDEO folder and some mp3's to the MUSIC folder. Then I scanned the Media share in Frontview (I left the folder box empty). Then I fired up the PS3 and pointed it to the NAS. It recognizes the music subfolders, but not the files. It just says "There are no titles/tracks." It doesn't seem to recognize the video subfolders/files at all. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Also, how long should a file scan take with only ~20 gigs of data on two 1-TB drives? I can't tell when a scan is finished in Frontview. After I click the rescan button, it stays disabled until I leave the page and return. Judging from the log, the scan only took about a minute.

Thanks.

Ok. This is how I solved the motherf*cking DLNA/Upnp AV problem related to the Readynas duo and PS3:

Couldn't update my file structure correctly. Rescan or upadate didn't work.

I simply moved the folder structure under the Media Share one level down by creating a new folder called media. After that I cut and paste the complete folder structure in the media folder. Example:

Backup/
Media/media/movies
--------------/music
--------------/pictures

Under the Upnp AV section select

"Media share" = Media
and
"Media folder"= media

Now the rescan works like magic!

The problem with the rescan button not bouncing back is still there (next time you rescan it says "rescan completed"), but that is just a visual bug? I hope this helps.

I also want to take the opportunity to just say how dissapointed I am at Netgear and the lack of support for this rather simple Issue. It's a damn shame.

So if I plug in a USB drive into my PS3, I should be able to play the files directly from the drive? (I know not really NAS related, sorry)

Edit: Just found this is it helps anyone.
