Please post questions regarding SqueezeCenter, Home Media Streaming Server, UPnP AV services here.

Well, Wizd doesn't actually deal at all with UPnP-AV. It's a server for Syabas compatible players only. So streamers like the DLink ones won't work with wizd. For those, the ReadyNAS comes with a UPnP-AV service as well, and there is also support for TwonkyMedia.

For an HD-compatible streamer with HDMI, something like the Zensonic Z500 might fit the bill.

So, did you update the uPnP server software? At the moment it's feature set is quite limited. That plus I'm not a big fan of Twonky somewhat limits the options.

No, UPnP-AV is the same as it was in P9. Are there any functionality problems you're having with it?

Actually, since I moved over to the DSM-520 from the Showcenter, I can stream my music, movies and photo's quite well. I would however like to see some additional features such as submitting albums/playlists to a queue. Also it would help if the software could read tags.

I would like to have transcoding available, but I know Twonky has that capability so I could buy it if it becomes important.

As for Photos, it would also be nice to have some sort of slide show supported. It also would be nice if you could make a slide show in Photoshop Elements and have the server play it. Yes, I know I can play all the photos in a folder, but it is somewhat painful to make slideshows that way.

Movies are fine. The problems I have are with the DSM box not with my X6. If however your software handled movie chapters, you would sell a lot more of the NAS devices. None of the software out there supports chapters that I know of.

All in all, I am very pleased with the box, so just consider the above a wish list in case you guys have nothing to do <grin>.

Wizd is being improved all the time and MPC is supporting the efforts as
much as we can. The general playback of ISO files have been appreciated
a lot by consumers of Syabas loaded players but the total picture
succeeds only if brands work with us as well by implementing the latest
versions.

There are efforts going on to implement wizd and make it support other players as well like KiSS who are not using Syabas middleware but we need players for those, which we try to get through different channels.

We also had a conversation with Christian from TwonkyVision who is
looking into adding subtitle support (srt/sub) for the future release of
TwonkyMedia as it is currently not supported.

The final release of the FW should have a later version of wizd... :-)
Right You-Dah?...

lol
Enjoy
