Napster on a Readynas

Postby Turps » Mon May 21, 2012 1:02 am

Looking for some help please.
I have a ReadyNas Duo v2 with 2 500GB discs.
I use it to drive my Logistech Squeezebox system for streaming music around my house.

I have signed up to Napster to give more choice but can't see how i get this onto the NAS platform.

I have installed it on Mysqueezebox.com however when I try and access it it take me off the ReadyNas library and is dependent on the Laptop that I access Squeezebox on being on.

Can you tell me if Napster can be added on to the RadyNas and also how I am best to set this up.
Thanks.

If you access your Logitech Media Server on the NAS (via NAS IP Address or host name and port 9000, eg. http://nas-xx-xx-xx:9000/ from your browser) I'm assuming on the left hand side under "My Apps" that Napster does not appear as one of the installed apps?
Assuming not, go to Settings (at the bottom right hand corner of the Logitech Media Server screen, and then go to the PlugIns tab. On this tab, there should be a list of installed plugins and also a list of 3rd party plugins - check here to see if Napster (or Rhapsody - as it may now been known - I believe one has taken over the other?) appears and tick the checkbox if it isn't already ticked.
The Napster (or Rhapsody) icon should then appear in your "My Apps" list on both the Logitech Media Server interface from your PC and also on your Logitech Squeezebox Controller handset. At some point you will also have to enter your Napster login details to enabled the Squeezebox server to access your Napster account and offer you the Napster service.
Hope that helps.

You will need to add your Napster/Rhapsody account information on Logitech's MySqueezebox.com site. This site is used to store the credentials of any online music services you may be using in conjunction with your Squeezebox devices. Even if you are connecting through your own local Logitech Media Server on your ReadyNAS, you will still need to put in your Napster/Rhapsody login info on Logitech's site. Your server will talk to MySqueezebox.com.
