FEATURE REQUEST - SetGID From Frontview

Hi all,

On my NV+ 4.1.8 I have noticed the lack of ability to enable SetGID(So files / folders under a dir automatically inherit parents permissions, regardless of who created them) Is it possible for later versions of Frontview to feature this?

Yes it would A more elegant solution.

Nobody seems to be interested on here though. I would raise a case suggesting this but support has ran out on both my NV+.

Perhaps you could champion this by simply copying my original post to a case and suggesting it as a new feature.

You can enable this feature yourself today - either via SSH to your NAS or by enabling NFS access to the shares and then configuring the setgid bit on the shares after mounting them.

I use the latter option myself - works fine

Whilst this does work, if you ever modified permisions from frontview then these would be lost I'm guessing.

I think it would be a neat feature to have in the GUI personally.

Sure - but why change them in frontview if you can do it more easily via NFS? Or why change them at all once you have them setup correctly? (Haven't changed permissions on either of my 4-bay NAS in years)

True but this wouldn't be a major thing for the development team to add as a feature and would make it easier for everybody.
