Network connection problems -> Files become read-only

Postby masa2 » Wed Jul 18, 2012 3:08 am

Hi.

I have Netgear Readynas DUO V1.

When I connect to my readynas, everything works fine. Except when I am using files from my readynas and network connection suddenly disconnects for some reason (network problems, etc.). After I reconnect to network, the file has become read-only and it cannot be changed. Just like it is locked somehow and stuck open.

For example: I have MS Word document saved to readynas. Then I open and edit it. Suddenly my connection drops and I reconnect. I can't save the file anymore because it is read-only.

I have read/write access in frontview setup. Is there a setting for this problem or any other solution?

What kind of raidiator are you using? There are known ownership and rights issues with 4.1.9. There is a beta out for 4.1.10, you might want to try that out if you are running 4.1.9 and reset ownership after the upgrade.

Are oplocks enabled on the share?

You might want to open a tech support (http://www.readynas.com/support) case. Edit the thread title (i.e. subject of first post in the thread) to include your case number.

4.1.9 and later does include a major samba update. I would avoid 4.1.9 due to the known issue with 4.1.9, but if you are willing to try 4.1.10 beta you might find that worth a try to see if that helps.

Oplocks are enabled.

I may try that 4.1.10 beta raidiator version if that helps.

I noticed I had automatic updates install on and It had installed 4.1.9 RAIDiator and needed to reboot the device. I rebooted it and now clients can't connect the readynas via VPN connection. I checked that VPN connection is online and successful but for some reason they can't transfer files to Readynas. It starts copying but then It gives an error and says to connect to the network drive again.

I tried to transfer files in LAN with admin account and it worked fine.

Have there been problems like this with 4.1.9. I thought I try to install 4.1.10 beta now.
Also, is it possible to downgrade to 4.1.8?

There are some issues with permissions in 4.1.9. You can downgrade to 4.1.8, or go forward with the beta.

Hi.

Been monitoring the problem after I upgraded the RAIDiator to 4.1.10beta. And the files still become read-only if they are opened when network connection disconnects suddenly.

Any other solutions?

If you reboot the NAS can you open the file then?
