Web interface down

Postby marius_roma » Fri Jul 20, 2012 2:59 am

I need to connect to the web interface to administer a NetGear ReadyNAS 3100 NAS.
Up to yesterday I was able to administer it from Internet Explorer after entering http://x.y.z.t/admin
Now I can access the shares and ping the NAS using the same IP address, but if I try to use the web interface I get a message saying that the web page cannot be displayed.
Given the NAS is in a different building, how can I reset the web interface without interrupting the normal access to shares?
Regards

Do you have any add-ons installed? If so which ones?

Do you have the EnableRootSSH add-on installed? If so SSH in and do:
Code: Select all
# tail /var/log/frontview/error.log

and post the output.

Have you updated the firmware recently or installed add-ons recently?

I attempted to access vi SSH but it was not possible, so I presume that EnableRootSSH is not installed or enabled.
How can I install EnableRootSSH add-on on all my ReadyNAS?
I did not install any add-on.
Is there any way to reset a ReadyNAS (or, even better, its web interface) from remote?

You need SSH access. Unfortunately you'll need to go to the NAS this time press the power button twice, wait for it to shutdown then press the power button to turn it on again.

You can download the x86 EnableRootSSH from here: http://www.ReadyNAS.com/addons

Installation is via Add-Ons > Add New in Frontview

Do you use Windows/Mac/Linux?

Hi,

although this post is older, I have the same problem. I have EnableRootSSH installed and checked /var/log/frontview/error.log

There it says:
server reached MaxClients setting, consider raising the MaxClients setting

How can I do this? Or can I restart Apache / Frontview without losing existing connections?

Regards

Didn't find any infos which helped, so I just killed all processes. Worked for me, if someone knows how to restart the services, let me know.

To restart Frontview: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=384618#p384618

As for the MaxClients setting that would be in one of the apache configuration files which you could edit using "vi" (google for the MAN page)
