search not working

I am using AFP on ultra4 to my mac but I am unable to search my drive(I dont think I have ever been able to). Everything else has been working fine for months, I have two shares one for me and one for the wife. we cant see each others shares (I did this on purpose) but we do have a 'shared' volume which we can exchange things and I can run a search on that volume fine, what am I doing wrong with the private volumes? thanks Nick

I have now resolved this problem by disabling 'advanced afp permissions' and also ticked 'Set ownership and permission for existing files and folders...' even though I had no permission problems, now I can search my volume ok
