Guest access to share via Wndows 7 64 Bit Ultimate

Postby blackadder1000 » Wed Aug 01, 2012 4:52 am

Hi

I have read through various posts about accesseing shares from Windows 7 64 bit, a few people have suggested switching the Share to user mode and creating users... alas I cannot do this.

The scenarion is a ReadyNAS NV+ setup already with 2 shares in shared mode.. user guest no password and this works fine for all the users around here...

Apple Mac, Ubuntu, Windows 7 32 bit and weirdly even one Windows 7 64 Bit ultimate... but not mine.

Everytime I try to access I get login box asking for username and password, enter guest as username, but no joy.

Please help :-)

Regards

Mike

Is your username or computer name the same as the name of any of the shares you've created?

What version of RAIDiator are you running on the NAS?

I would also recommend switching to user mode. There are good instructions here: How to Migrate to User Security Mode

NB: A ReadyNas is not an excuse not to have a backup. Fire, theft, multiple disk failures, other hardware failure, floods, user negligence etc. can all result in loss of data.

Hi All

I cannot really switch to user mode as this NAS works for all other users in the system.. is there no way to make my machine connect? My machine name is not the same as any of the shares on the NAS. In fact the NAS only has one share.
