Going from domain to user security and back

Postby NeMeSiS » Wed Aug 08, 2007 8:35 am

All,

Here is my struggle to correct a strange combination of problems. Don't know if this is the correct tread - correct me if i am wrong pls.

I was happily operating in domain security mode with my Ready NAS X6 - running v3.01c1-p6.
Some time ago i wanted to create a share for one user.

Could not create share. Got error message saying "Invalid name - only use ABC abc and these signs etc"...
The share i wanted to create was to be labeled "kathleen" - nothing special there... Could create share "kathleen1" but not "kathleen"...

I remembered that before i did domain security - i had set up users in user security mode - so i switched the X6 back to user security.
And yes - there was indeed a user "katheen".
Deleted that user (and some others along the way) and wanted to rejoin domain.

Aparently the user ID used for joining domain is case sensitive - i had typed Admin_myuserid instead of admin_myuserid - giving me authentication problems...

In the end all works fine - just wanted to share the experience...
