Network Configuration if domain\network is down

Postby kurt » Thu May 29, 2008 8:37 am

Currently my ReadyNas 1100 is connected to our network and using domain security mode. I'm worried that if our network\domain controller is down that I won't be able to access the data. I use it for backup so it's important that I can access it. I'm the only one that uses the readynas so it doesn't really need to be on the network. I could just connect it to the PC which does the backup and transfers the data.

How can I be sure that I can access the data on the readynas when the domain\network is down. Can I setup the 2nd ethernet port connected directly to my PC? Should I just take it off the network and connect it only, directly to this PC?

Thanks
kurt

It should still be online, but be aware that problems can occur with just about anything if the DC is flaky enough. If you're really the only person that's going to be using the ReadyNAS, you'd probably be better off just using user security mode rather than domain.
