Switching Users permission problem - Fixed 4.2.21

Postby skeeboze » Wed Jun 20, 2012 10:18 am

Readynas 3100 4.2.20 Windows 2003 Domain - Windows 7 PC

Does anyone else notice this problem? Log on to the PC as an Administrator. Browse to the the ReadyNAS 3100. You should see and have access to all folders as the admin. Log off the PC and login as a standard user and browse to the ReadyNas. You are still accessing the readyNAS as the admin. You still have admin privileges to go into any share you like! You even still see the private user folder for the admin account and have access to it. To clear this and have permissions work for the correct user that logs on I have to reboot the PC or wait a while bnefore loging in as the 2ns user. The readyNAS does not seem to expire the session fast enough or is confused when you logoff one user and log in with another from the same PC. You can do this with any user account in AD I just used the Admin example to illustration how much of a problem this is. Can anyone else confirm this?

You can try clearing it manually with command prompt on the computer and entering "net use /delete *" it should kill any connection that is being held open.

Thanks for the work around. Is this something can be fixed in the next firmware?

If the net use delete command breaks the connection then this is an issue with how windows is establishing and maintaining connections. Any change would require the ReadyNAS to manage the Net Use system which would be a security breach for Windows.

FIXED 4.2.21 Re: Switching Users permission problem

Postby skeeboze » Mon Jun 25, 2012 6:57 am

Seems to be fixed in 4.2.21. The permissions stick now when switching users. Thank you for fixing this issue so quickly!! I still get the folder view as the previous user. For instance log in as the admin and browse the readynas then login as the user and browse to the Readynas. I still see all the folders as if I was the admin. I see the C drive and the admins private folder but I can only get into folders the user has access to. Just an annoyance now but the security seems to be fixed now.
