Have you tried specifying the IP address of the Windows 7 machine as the host, rather than the computer name?
Path should be in a format looking something like this "windowssharename/folder/folder" (no quotes).

I don't know what would cause an intermittent failure like that. The software on the NAS isn't changing between backup runs, and if the state of the Win7 box isn't changing, then I'm not sure what would cause the problem.
Go ahead and send me the logs and I'll see if there's anything interesting there.
