backup problem

I am trying to backup my recorded tv from a mce2005 pc.

I am using a ReadyNASNV with 4 *500GB HDs and the latest firmware.

I have tried both Windows/NAS (Timestamp) and Windows (Archive Bit) - I am not sure what the difference is..

They both appear to copy all the files across but both fail at the end with:

'Reason for failure:
Error encountered copying data from remote source path //revolution/Recorded TV ==> /backup//Recorded TV due to unknown reason. Please see log.'

I have also tried redoing the backup (to verify it) and it still fails with the same message.

It looks like the recorder application on your PC is keeping a few temp files open and preventing them from being shared. Here is the relevant excerpt from the logs:

I don't know anything about your recording software, but my guess is that these files don't need to be backed up, and that the error messages can be safely ignored.

is it possible for a backup job to ignore a directory - in this case \TempRec
