OpenDNS/Dyndns/torrentflux/Transmission/bittorrent questions

First:

I had some problems when i add a torrent to torrentflux, transmission or bittorrent, nothing happens .......!!!
(No firewall and port's are open in my router)

Because some webesite's in denmark are banned, i tryed the Work a round for XP

Then i change Ip's in Frontview --> Global Settings --> DNS Settings to

Domain name server 1: 208.67.222.222
Domain name server 2: 208.67.220.220

Image

Then i reboot my ReadyNAS Duo

And now it downloads like a charm :D :D

If i remove ip's from Frontview --> Global Settings --> DNS Settings
and reboot my ReadyNAS Duo it stoppes downloading

WHY ?

Second:

My question is, can i update OpenDNS (+Local DNS Server) or OpenDNS (Simple update Client) add-on's ?? or is there no need for it ?

I have a acc on OpenDNS but it is not active.... and Dyndns acc. ( i used it for my website ) first i used Dyndns Client add-on, now i use DnsOmatic add-on work's 100 %

All network devices need at least 1 reference to a DNS server. If you don't specify any DNS servers, the ReadyNAS cannot resolve the addressing and fails. By using the DNS from OpenDNS, your ReadyNAS can resolve addresses and therefore it works.

A lot of routers will sort this out for you by forwarding requests to the DNS servers provided by your ISP. In this case, you should be able to use the IP address of your router (192.168.1.1) for DNS on the ReadyNAS. If your ISP is messing with DNS to block access to websites then you'll need to use alternative DNS servers which is what you are doing by using DNS from OpenDNS.

The real use for OpenDNS is to restrict access to selected websites by associating the incoming IP address with filtering rules set on a user account. If you're not updating your external IP address on OpenDNS then they cannot select the account and therefore they cannot apply any filtering. I am not aware of them enforcing their own restrictions on unregistered IP addresses so you may be Ok using them for now.

You can use the DnsOMatic add-on to update both DynDNS and OpenDNS as I do exactly this myself. Provided you remove any filtering on your OpenDNS account, you shouldn't get blocked.

Take a look at Transmission Remote dotnet as it provides more info on the Transmission service:
