AirVideo

Postby Denis » Wed Jun 13, 2012 12:05 pm

Got an interesting problem. I have ReadyNAS Pro Business Edition, with the add on Logitech Media Server. Works like a charm. I got an iPhone a couple of week ago. And I decided to try out AirVideo. So, I installed AirVideo_2.0.00.bin, ffmpeg_1.3.bin. Found out that I had to have my video's (directory's and everything in the world) in a directory called videos; so I moved my stuff. Everything worked until the next day. I opened the app on my iPhone and got the error communication error can't contact the server. I tried entering the ip address; nothing, So, I stop the service and started the service, And everything worked as normal. Next day, same thing, stop and started the service and again everything worked. Next day some time after six am the same problem happened again. So, that's it.

Anything seen this, Maybe version alfa 7 could look into this?

Thanks for the update, I had a feeling that it was a job crash. Since I never installed ssh, I guess I'll never know what's blowing up. Too bad there isn't a button to download the logs. Maybe something to add in future versions?

Just I thought, does that mean the logs are going to grow?

Where can I specify a folder for the source files? "Media" I have not used - torrents are downloaded to the folder as "/ c / Videos", "/ c / Serial" and so on ...

take a look on the file readynas.properties located in /c/webroot/Airvideo
and also in /etc/frontview/addons/bin/AIRVIDEO/start.sh

path.ffmpeg = /c/webroot/AirVideo/ffmpeg
path.mp4creator = /usr/local/bin/mp4creator
path.faac = /usr/local/bin/faac
password = 123456789
subtitles.encoding = windows-1250
subtitles.font = Verdana
folders = Videos:/c/media/Videos,Music:/c/media/Music

Addons need to be more simplified, allowing path changes and such right in the add-on GUI. Asking users to edit text configuration files is too much.

WhoCares? has implemented a method in his new addons that allows for easier editing of text configuration files via the UI. Perhaps super-poussin should talk to WhoCares? about this. A good example is editing settings.json in the free TransmissionBT add-on for ARM: http://readynasxtras.com/readynas-arm-add-ons/transmission-arm

However I agree making it even simpler than that where possible would be good.

Exactly. Or still use a web UI like WhoCares PHP addon for managing which extensions are used.
