I have a ReadyNAS and a ReadyNAS+ and am using WinXp Retrospect 7.6.111 to do a "Replace if source is newer" duplicate from one to the other.
Each time I do this Retrospect "finds" multi GB of files to copy across, BUT there should be nothing much to copy as I have changed only a few files in the source directories. (Adding a few new ones and updating a few others). So I am having to do this manually, which is a right pain. The files are media files (flac, mp4a, jpeg etc).
If I do this manually then I get execution errors that usually list differences between souce and destination due to time of creation for all new files copied. These are the only errors.
I thought it might have something to do with the clocks on the two NAS's and the clock on the PC, so I synched them all to time sources before the run (time.nist.gov on the pc and pool.ntp.org on the NAS's).
I also use the following settings on the Retrospect run options :
Verification on
Byte-by-byte client file comparison
Ignore file verification errors in security stream
PLUS all of the Don't duplicate Windows info options are checked.
I also checked AND unchecked the "Synchronize clock" option - no change
I'm sure this has something to do with a clock mismatch, but between what and what ?
Any expert views on where the problem is and what to change ?
Thanks
