No access and Raidar cannot find NV+

Postby jerryk » Fri Jan 27, 2012 6:46 pm

I cannot access, access it via http to the displayed address, and Raidar seem to be unable to find my NV+. The unit is displaying and IP address and if I disconnect the ethernet cable it detects the change. When I reconnect the cable it display requesting IP address and then the IP address so I think it is getting the ip address from the server. Any idea what is going on?

Have you updated the firmware recently? If so do you remember from what firmware?

Have you installed any add-ons? If so which ones?

When did you purchase this ReadyNAS? Was it purchased brand new on/after Aug 21, 2007?

Is only the IP address displayed on the LCD? What LED pattern do you see on the NAS?

Have you had any emails about errors with disks recently?

No updates in at least 6 months

No add-ins

I purchased it new, but from Infrant before they were acquired by Netgear. I am not sure of the exact date.

The IP address and space free are displayed

An update.

I installed Raidar on another system and it sees the NV+.

I had to reboot the NV+, but now I can access the unit via FrontPage.

More info. It turns out the root cause of the problem was a bad 8 month old Netgear Gigaswitch. Every 30 seconds or so it would "reboot", the lights would go out for a second, the left half of the lights would flash then the right. I replaced the switch with a Cisco unit and it everything seems to have settled down. Lesson learned, going with commercial grade equipment from now on.
