Can Ultras do SNMP

For those who cannot wait for the official x86 releases, we'll occasionally post test releases here. This includes the Pro/NVX/Ultra/2100/3100/3200/4200 models.

Can Ultras do SNMP

Postby chambrick » Fri Feb 25, 2011 12:50 pm

I need a definitive answer. The Netgear site info shows support. This forum says no support. However, some say its there.

I WANT snmp for my clients but don't need all the other PRO stuff so don't want to pay for the extra stuff.

SO......can I do SNMP with Ultra series??????

No, you'll need the Pro.

Might be a community add-on for that.

There is a community addon: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=47411

I'm not using it so I don't know if it works on the current firmware, but I presume it does.

If you need this feature for business use then you really should get the business product.

Remember that the business products do have a number of extra features, not to mention a 5 year warranty (vs 3 years on the home models). For the extra warranty alone it can be worth getting a business model in my opinion.

Thanks so much. That's huge.

This is for my clients who are home users who don't understand the difference between getting one of the NAS devices and using an existing computer that's "not used very much". So cost is HUGE factor in the sell. But for me I want to be able to manage the product so SNMP is HUGE for me.

The readynasfreeware.org site must have just been down temporarily for some reason and is back up now.
