ReadyNas Photos unusably slow

Postby Arr MiHardies » Sun Nov 02, 2008 2:33 pm

Well, I think the subject line says it all. ReadyNas photos is running unusably slow. It didn't used to run like this, and it has been a while since I've used readynas photos. But I went to add some photos today and the interface took forever to load. When I finally opened an album, not all of the thumbnails would display, and and the left and right page buttons only occasionally work. I tried rebooting my readynas, but that didn't fix the issue. Im currently running firmware 4.1.4, and Im pretty sure the add-on and the client are up to date.

Same as topic.

Managed to import my pictures and shared. However, today when I tried to add more pictures, it takes forever to load and eventually it does, not not thumbnails shown.

Can you share the troubleshooting steps here?

We are working on fix for this problem. However, I am not sure if you are facing the same problem.

Can you try restarting ReadyNAS Photos desktop software, and if you still facing the same issue, try
restarting the ReadyNAS.

Do let me know your observation after doing this.

Already tried ... restarted both ReadyNAS Photos desktop software and ReadyNAS, still the same problem.

Even tried to uninstall / reinstall ReadyNAS Photo desktop software and to reapply update to ReadyNAS, still face same problem.

Is your fix addressing this problem? If it does, sure hope that you can send it to me even its beta as it should be better that what I am facing now.

I'm having the same problem. After sending my logs to Minerva and having her do a remote control look-see, there is still no resolution for me and I have heard nothing further from the ReadyNas folks. I'd appreciate knowing if there is a fix in the works for this.

ReadyNAS Photos stores information in MySQL database on the ReadyNAS. When ReadyNAS Photos attempts connection to the Database, MySQL performs a reverse DNS lookup to figure out the host name of the connecting machine. In some DNS setups, this lookup takes really long time (close to 10 seconds). When this occurs accessing times for ReadyNAS Photos also degrade.

However, this problem does not happen at every installation of ReadyNAS Photos.

The work around is to fix the DNS look ups so the hostname of the connecting machine is returned reliably or configure MySQL database so it does not perform the reverse DNS lookup for hostname.

Thank you everyone that has sent us the diagnostic information that helped us resolve this problem.

Forgive me for needing a bit more guidance on what exactly you would like us to do...or if you are suggesting you guys have a patch or something that will fix this?

Yes, it is solved but only temporary.
I have a webex with Prashant and he added something into the mysql and everything is a breeze...
What he advised is to wait for the next version of addon and netgear will have to add the fix in.
Netgear!! please do it quick!

However, I got another problem after getting one solved.
Now, my invited users cannot see my shared album.
They keep getting user offline!!!
tried remove and reinstall readynas photo and now downgrade from 1.8 to 1.7 and still user offline!!

I am having the exact same issues. I have been following this thread since I purchased my ReadNAS in January. Very disappointed that this feature is not fully functional. Any ideas when the next version will be released?
