torrent auto download

Postby technokid » Thu Nov 03, 2011 6:39 am

Hi, I've got Ready NAS DUO and the Bit torrent addon active, and at the moment to add a new torrent i have to add it manualy.
I found an add on for firefox whic is "BitTirrent WebUI" but i am getting an error: "server replied: Not found 404". Is this the only way to download automaticaly .torrent files or is there any other way?

I don't know about the old bittorrent client, but when using Transmission you can use the Transmission Remote GUI or Transmission Remote dotnet to add .torrent files from your pc. If you want to download them automatically from an rss-feed, you could use the add-on called Automatic. I think the Transmission Remote GUI also has a build-in rss-reader which can be used to automatically add torrents form an rss-feed.

Transmission has a build in webclient you can use. There's a big button with which you can add torrents.

You can access the web client by going to the address http://[ip of your nas]:8181/Transmission or use the button at the installed-add-ons page in Frontview

For some reason the permissions for the media share isn't always right. You can change this by going to Frontview -> Shares -> Share listing

Then click on one of the icons next to the media share that looks like a page of paper (doesn't matter which one). Next click on the Advanced Options tab.

Make sure that the Share folder owner is "nobody" (without the ""). The group should be "nogroup". It's a bit misleading but "nobody" is a user named "nobody". Transmission runs as this user.

Owner and group rights should be "Read/write". Share folder everyone rights doesn't matter much for Transmission. Setting it to Read/write gives everyone read/write rights to the share.

Next tick the box in front of the line saying:
"Set ownership and permission for existing files and folders in this share to the above settings. This option is useful in cases where you are changing security levels and need to workaround file access problems."

Lastly click the Apply button.

After this, all the files and folders in your media share should have their permissions reset so that Transmission can use it. This might take a while, so wait a few minutes before starting Transmission again.
