While there is not an addon for this I was able to apt-get the package after turning on root. The package is old but works.

Great. If anyone wants help configuring zabbix server or agent and tuning it to their network just ask. I have had to figurue out just about everything you could think of with zabbix.

Does this mean you can install --enable-agent and/or --enable-server? How about database options and things like jabber?

If this is a Spiceworks-like alternative running on the NAS, i'd be interested in this as long as it's not too resource intensive. My NAS is already running quite a bit as it is.

I just typed a really long post on my iPhone and when I pressed submit i had to login again and lost it. I may re-type when I'm at a larger keyboard but for now check out this video of an IT staff meeting where an admin is introducing zabbix to the staff. He does a good job explaining it and the staff asks some good questions.
