ReadyNAS Pro 6 - DELL UPS Monitoring

Postby liceran » Tue May 29, 2012 7:07 am

I am getting in trouble trying to get my ReadyNAS Pro 6 monitoring my DELL UPS (with the network management card) over SNMP.

I am entening the correct SNMP IP adreess (in my case 155.125.125.99) and I've tried all the available MIB options.

I always get a pop up windows saying:

Could not connect to the specified UPS server. Please verify that UPS sharing is enabled on that system and try again.

If I SSH to my Ready NAS I can succesfully ping the UPS IP address, so it's not a connectivity problem.

I've been trying to search in the forums without luck...

Any good hint would be highly appreciated!

I think it might be only APC units are the only ones supported over SNMP. See http://www.readynas.com/RAIDiator_x86_4_2_16_Notes

NB: A ReadyNas is not an excuse not to have a backup. Fire, theft, multiple disk failures, other hardware failure, floods, user negligence etc. can all result in loss of data.

Yes the Pro 6 is x86. You might want to try 4.2.20 and see if it's any different on that. 4.2.19 was released back in September last year.

Damn... if only APC is supported over SNMP I am in real trouble... Does anybody have any imaginative idea on how can I have UPS monitoring with a DELL UPS?

Does the UPS have a USB port (note serial-to-usb is incompatible)?

Yes it has it... and lucky me the ReadyNAS is in the same Rack... Would that be a possible solution?
