Have looked at loads of threads and tried everything i can see. This is the problem -
ReadyNas NVX - XRAID2
Before upgrade:-
Slot 1: 1.5TB
Slot 2: 1.5TB
Slot 3: 500Gb
Slot 4: 500Gb
plan was to put 2 x 3TB drives into slots 3 and 4 to replace the 500Gb drives.
Checked the compatibility lists for seagate 3TB drives. ok.
got them, put them in, one by one, after rebuilds.
Both 3TB drives are only expanding to the size of the 1.5 TB drives.
Wondered what could have gone wrong. checked the compatibility thing again, noticed the bit about the firmware required (i thought that was the NAS device!!! - its not clear to a noobie!!!) and the URL in the list isnt' complete. (URL to Seagate).
so
Went to Seagate, downloaded the checker, put each drive singly into the PC, and confirmed wrong firmware.
Updated the Firmware. placed back into NAS, and let it rebuild.
Did the same with the second 3TB drive.
ok.. so i have latest firware.
Have made sure, disk spin down is off, the Disable Journaling is UNCHECKED, snapshots are OFF.
Multiple boot ups, with the Quota box and the Volume scan ticked, have failed to expand the drive.
Current text, in the frontpage view, is 1670GB (72%) of 2296GB which, is exactly the same as when the 500gb drives were in.
ie: it hasn't even succesfully expanded the 3TB drives properly. as i would have expected the number to go up.
I am on the latest NAS firmware. 21
