x86 vs sparc

Postby KazMax » Sat Jan 01, 2011 4:38 pm

In reviewing add-on downloads I keep coming across two download buttons - one for x86 and the other for sparc. I assume that the sparc option is the one to use for my ReadyNas Duo, however could someone please enlighten me with respect to what these different download types relate to? I haven't been able to find any explanatory text on the web site.

Ta muchly.

Sparc is a type of processor. Duo, X6, 1100, NV, NV+ all use the sparc processor

x86 is the processor in the current range (Pro, NVX, Ultra, 2100, 3200, 4200) and is the processor that will be used in new equipment in the near future.
