Readynas duo cannot access internet

Postby chrisll » Sun Feb 05, 2012 10:21 am

Hi I believe my readynas cannot access the internet. It works fine within my network but the torrent programs don't work and trying all different programs and setting changes didn't get them working.

Is there something I can do on my readynas or some software I can run to diagnose the problem? (it's not worked for a year since moving to a new building. I have installed new software etc all hasn't worked)

Thanks

In the case of torrents, you need to forward the appropriate ports in your router.

Hi Thanks for the reply but I do not think this is the problem. As not only do torrents not download but you can't open torrents using the url and must add by browsing to the file. Also when clicking check for updates it says it cannot contact the server.

Is there a way to get the nas to ping an external address (e.g. google or something) to prove this is the problem. Also if someone could give me advice on what settings I can paste on here and maybe identify something that has been incorrectly set?

I was thinking of buying something like the hp n40l microserver to replace the ready has anyone done something similar and do they think it is a good idea? (I'm thinking it will be easier to manage and should be able to do more complex stuff e.g. transcoding)

Are you getting your NAS IP address from DHCP?

If your PC can access a web page over the internet, and can also access the NAS, then it is very unlikely that your NAS cannot access the internet also.

Are your settings under Network > Global Settings correct?
