ReadyNAS Remote not accessing shares

Postby chillywit » Sun May 10, 2009 5:46 pm

I am unable to see or access any shares remotely using ReadyNAS Remote. I can log into ReadyNAS Remote, the but ReadyNAS Shares folder that opens is empty when I attempt to remotely connect to the ReadyNAS. Any help on how to troubleshoot this would be appreciated.

ReadyNAS DUO, RAIDiator 4.15, ReadyNAS Remote 1.1.7.6, Vista

Same problem on a ReadyNAS Pro, RAIDiator 4.2.5, ReadyNAS Remote 1.1.7.6, XP SP3.

One thing I have noticed is that on the LeafNetworks network adapter there is only sent packets. Receive packets always 0. I'm behind a corporate firewall and proxy.

TIA

Same problem here, with an extra complication. I ran the installation on 2 notebooks, connected to the same switch. First on a Samsung NC10, Win XP SP3, no problem. Everything worked, no errors. Than I tried to install 1.1.7.6 on a Lenovo T60 (Xp SP3). Crash. Tried again. Crash. Remove DLL by first killing running apps and than manually-deleting the \Remote directory, re-install. Worked. The Samsung netbook popped-up: 'You are being logged out because you logged in somewhere else, etc'. Neat. But the application on the Samsung was hanging after that. Not neat. Same time on the Lenovo T60 I get the same empty screen without accessible remote ReadyNAS. Tried to logout. Hangs. The ReadyNAS in question is an NV+.

One DUO when you first launch the ReadyNAS Remote application, you should get prompted for an update. If you don't that is a problem and please let us know.

After you run the update, currently you need to *manually* restart the ReadyNAS Remote addon from FrontView, this problem will be fixed in tonight.

On the ReadyNAS side, please make sure you have invited the user that you are using to login from the Mac or Windows side.

If your ReadyNAS is behind a proxy, you need to set the proxy setting inside the advance setting in ReadyNAS remote, please see - http://downloads.leafnetworks.net/Ready ... _guide.pdf

Some antivirus programs interfer with p2p applications. Are you running any antivirus such as NOD32, ZoneAlarm, etc?

WRT, the crash when you use the same account on 2 different machines...this was an old bug that was fixed. Let us revisit it again.

I'm having the same difficulty with not seeing anything under the "ReadyNAS Shares" folder.

The only thing I did differently to the instructions above was to add my user by searching the username, as opposed to sending an email invite. Is this a critical step?

When I manually start /opt/leaf/bin/leafnas.sh everything suddenly works but this process is not being started automatically for some reason.

I think I have this problem too but can't check now (am offsite and my readynas is behind a firefall). On the 'installed add-ons' page, is the icon next to readynas remote supposed to be green if it is running? Mine remains gray even after I have enabled it and rebooted.

Well I've got mine to work eventually.

I had originally setup a user account when I installed the windows software. This user account was added to the allowed users list in the NAS Frontview. I've never been able to access the NAS through this account. I've tried sending out email invites to myself, but none of the arrived. Through this account the tray icon always logged itself in, went blue and told me that my user was logged in. But whenever I clicked connect to NAS all got was a windows explorer window showing 'This Folder is Empty'.

Today I sent myself an email request through Frontview at an alternative email address and received that email shortly after. Following the link in that email to create a new account, I've done so with a new username and at the first attempt at logging in with that username I have immediate access to my ReadyNAS!! Woohoo! :wiggle:

Now I'm happy that it's working, but there's a nagging frustration in the back of my mind as to what happened with the first account. It seems there is some issue with the way the user is created that the NAS doesn't like. Hopefully this can be sorted, as I had followed all the instructions during installation, probably along with the others having similar problems.

Anyway, I'm finally up and running and able to access the files.

I cannot seem to access my shares via the ReadyNAS Remote either. I am noticing that the leafnas executable is terminating prematurely. Examining /var/log/ReadyNAS_Remote.log I am noticing this:

Code: Select all
Bind error: Address already in use

Please advise. Thank you.

Thanks for the log snippet, it really helps.

That error typically means that the Remote application could not bind to a port on startup. This usually occurs because some antivirus is preventing a server to be started on any port.

What antivirus are you running....

So my issue was 100% firewall. I followed the instructions someone posted in here .. different thread about mapping to a known port that was open ... ie like SSH for netear.

Everything working excellent. Even via cellular internet.. works great.

now faced with ... how much to save in offline folders vs. just dialing up at hitting the READYNAS.

I am also getting the same bind error. Am running ReadyNAS Remote add-on v1.0.9.27 and client 1.0.19. There is no antivirus software (I use OS X). Have disabled outgoing firewall (Little Snitch) with no effect. Am not behind any proxy, just an Airport Extreme router which use NAT. Have set up port forwarding to the ReadyNAS for TCP on port 8888. This is the log output:

Code: Select all
Jan 31 16:33:00 Macbeth leafd[2710]: Client connection did die.
Jan 31 16:33:00 Macbeth com.apple.launchd[90] ([0x0-0xa40a4].com.ReadyNAS.ReadyNASRemote[2706]): Stray process with PGID equal to this dead job: PID 2710 PPID 1 leafd

Jan 31 16:34:11 Macbeth [0x0-0xe00e0].com.ReadyNAS.ReadyNASRemote[7272]: Bind error: Address already in use

Also, there is no /opt/leaf/bin/leafnas.sh installed. Your link over to the Advanced Setup Guide is broken, but I found it here instead:
