That is disappointing.

Contradiction in terms. Release of software as a production release indicates its out of beta.

I'm curious as to why you've been having problems installing the add-on as it installed fine on my beta system.

Well thats ok then because if thats all the problem is then itll surely be sorted out in a firmware/software update.

Well I fixed it by resetting to factory default. Lost the entire HD data, but thats ok because it was fairly new.

But now I've got a different issue. On the ReadyNAS client (iPhone) it needs my FTP information. Unfortunately, on the Duo, it does not come pre-loaded with an FTP server. So I'm stuck.

So how does one actually use ReadyNAS remote on devices other than a PC with the Duo v2?

I have to say, I'm inclined to return the Duo v2. It seems to have half of the capabilities and twice the bugs! The only reason I might want to hang on is if this is the new platform for the future and if most of the stuff gets ported over relatively quickly. (itunes server, tivo archiving, ftp server, readynas remote on ipad/iphone, etc).

I'm going to write up and publish a two-week in review of the Duo v2 shortly. Here's hoping things improve. :(

At this point in time, Remote is not supported on devices beyond Windows and OSX.

At least on mine doing multiple factory resets didn't seem to solve the problem. I actually purchased an ultra 2 instead and I am much happier with the product.

Remote is supported on iOS/Android devices, just not yet with the new Duo/NV+ v2 products. A solution is being worked on.

I am a little disappointed not to find a hint for a real solution. I don't want to loose all the time spend to understand my Duo V2.
Unfortunately I had to reboot the NAS and after the reboot procedure the ReadyNAS addons aren't working anymore:

- Photo II is not showing the port number 8086 in the configuration area (and thus is not working) and
- ReadyNAS remote is showing an error message: https://my-readynas.ip.
"The ReadyNSAS Remote addon is disabled, please enable it before launching this management page."
How is it possible to enable the addons? They are installed and at least Remote is showing a green dot.

Please help!?

Hi

are you able to confirm then, that I cannot access my DuoV2 from my iPad? I have the Remote Access installed, and I have been able to find the device on my iPad, however I consistently receive the error, "Please check that your FTP service on your ReadyNAS is running" etc etc

The remote application walkthrough does not appear to have been prepared in the format of the new version of the ReadyNas v2 software, which does not have any "ftp" settings (that I can find)

thanks

Sure.

Future Remote or iPhone will have the option to use CIFS instead of FTP. Not sure when that will go through the App Store approval process.

Re: ReadyNAS Remote Duo V2 installation

I read these threads and would appreciate any help. I have a new NV v2 and am trying to connect via Android. I was able to get the NV v2 set up and the Remote working on our computers, but not on an Android phone. Following this thread,

To use Remote on iPhone/Android (via FTP) on Duo v2, try this add-on: http://www.readynas.com/download/addons ... rm_1.1.bin (enables the FTP service on the Remote network interface)
Future Remote or iPhone will have the option to use CIFS instead of FTP. Not sure when that will go through the App Store approval process.

I downloaded the file and installed it into the NV v2. It rebooted. However, for the last 24 hours I get the message "Device is Offline. Please Wait" on the Dashboard. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your help.

All is OK with my Readynas duo V2 except that I can't access it by REMOTE with my Android phone GALAXY S

The application on the phone seem to function,I can connect with a good user ID, it give the name of my nas in Remote tab but don't respond and show a "221 Bye" message.

I have well installed the 2 adds on on the NAS : REMOTE and IPHONE RMOTE and the 2 light are OK ( green)

Any idea what I missed ??

I too have the same problem with my DUO v2 getting the '...please enable...' error message, I telephone technical support and in a rather embarrassed tone I was told that it is a know issue but Netgear don’t have the solution yet and no idea when it will be solved. Not the best of responses but at least I know its not me doing something wrong now, just wish Netgear would sort the problem out ASAP. Just thought anyone else reading this thread with this problem might like to know.
