Ever since I upgraded to 4.2.21 ReadyDLNA has been dropping every few minutes...I didnt have any problems with 4.2.20, so I was wondering if I could safely downgrade without losing data/wreaking havoc with my readynas?

nevermind, i just did it and it worked fine...no problems with readydlna anymore!

What client are you using? How is it 'dropping' ?

We are working to get our hands on a WDtv to diagnose the issue in detail. Looking at debug logs so far from DLNA, there are no signs of why the WD crashes.

The same happened to me when I've upgraded my readynas duo to 4.1.9.
The wdlive crashes continuously every 2 or 3 minutes of videos...
I'm trying to downgrade the readydlna to the previous version, then, if it fails, i will downgrade the firmware itself.

I ended up upgrading to the new firmware, but then downgrading readydlna and that worked for me!
