Change ReadyDLNA language/standard Folders on DUO 2110

Postby A1m » Thu Jul 15, 2010 4:41 pm

Hi,

I installed a ReadyNAS DUO 2110 in my parents house. They mainly use the NAS to stream photos/videos via DLNA to a Samsung TV.

The problem I have now is that all options and folders that ReadyDLNA streams are english like "Pictures", "Browse Folders", "Date Taken" ... My parents dont understand a word ... (Also I dont like that the "Browse Folders" option has the same Icon as any other Folder)
I changed the language to German in FrontView but everything regarding DLNA remains english (unfortunately thats the only thing that matters for me :( ).
I downloaded 4.1.7 T42 Beta and installed it. I thought there are more options regarding DLNA, I changed paths to german foldernames, but this could not solve my problem. I also would like to remove things like "Date Taken" (subfolder of Pictures) completely.

Any suggestion what I could do?

I also just tried the Twonky 6.0 addon. Although I changed language to German it still streams everything in english.

Also Twonky doesnt shows Thumbnails for most pictures on Samsung TV and on iPhone it only let me see Thumbnails and I cant load full size pictures.

ReadyDLNA works fine on Samsung TV and iPhone, I just would like to change the language :-(

What's your web browser's (e.g. IE8's) language set to (this may/may not be automatically the same as the language your computer's OS is set to use)? Frontview will use whatever this language is.

I don't know if there is German language translations for those add-ons, but if not, if you are able to provide translations yourself you could contact the add-on developer and see if they will work with you to produce a new version with the German language showing in Frontview.

My Browserlanguage is German on IE8 and FF, but this doesnt matter cause FrontView is shown in German but streaming services are English, that means if I select the NAS on my Samsung TV I see Folders named "Pictures", "Browse Folders" ... .

I could provide a translation easily, there is not really much to translate, if I knew how to modify it. Anyway, like already said I would like to use ReadyDLNA service cause Twonky doesnt work very good.

If I were you I'd PM Skywalker (he appears to be the Jedi in charge of Streaming Services). If there's a bug or some missing language strings he should be able to get it fixed for all German ReadyNAS users. A firmware update or updating the ReadyDLNA add-on otherwise would likely overwrite any language changes you make so it'd be best to get a proper fix.

If it's not possible to fix he should also be able to let you know.

No need to PM him. Best to keep things in the public threads.

Also, the next version of ReadyDLNA will support other languages on the DLNA side of things. So if you set your System Language in FrontView to be German, language strings on the TV will show in German as well.

For x86 people (Pro,NVX,2100,etc) that are running 4.2.12, you can install the ServicePack which has the updated ReadyDLNA that supports this language feature. Set the system language under FrontView>System>Language to something (like German), and ReadyDLNA will show German language strings on the DLNA side (to your TV).

Just a little additional info:
* Only German is currently supported. If you'd like additional languages supported, please let us know.
* A ReadyDLNA file rescan is required to switch the strings to your native language.

I am going to post a sticky in this forum with the English strings, asking for donation of language translations.
