Ultra 6 and Tivo Streaming

Postby detchison » Sat Apr 28, 2012 11:38 am

My ReadyNAS shows up on the Tivo and the folders show but none of the .Mp4 videos show up... Anyone have any ideas to what it could be? Are they not the right format? I have also rescanned as well to no avail.

Hi, Im having the same exact issue. If you figure this out, would you mind relaying? I've setup the readynas (ultra 4) and installed mydnla and mytivo app's. Also my tivo connection was successfully installed during the initial readynas setup. When I i go to my readynas connection, through my tivo, not of my movies are there to play, even though they are on the readynas. I have no problems watching movies on my tivo that are hosted on my pc, through tivo desktop. For whatever reason, the readynas does not recognize them. Most of my video files are .mkv's and .avi's. Thanks!

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure that the ReadyNAS can only serve up .tivo files and possibly only ones that it has downloaded from the tivo itself. (Actually I think if you look at a show that you have downloaded onto the readynas and recreate the xml file for .tivo files you already have on your computer you should be fine.)
There is probably a way to do this with kmttg (sp?) but that would require some work to get running on the NAS.
Otherwise I think you would have to convert your mp4 files to .tivo files. Personally I use some other DLNA client (xbox/ps3/tv) for these types of files while using the Tivo feature as a "backup" for shows I record on the Tivo.

TL;DR I am pretty sure the Tivo can only download shows from the ReadyNAS that were downloaded from the tivo to the readyNAS.

Can anyone confirm this is the case? Or is it just a specific file format that is required?
