Defining subdirectories for DLNA

Postby ash_earwig » Fri Jun 08, 2012 8:04 am

Hello - fairly newbie here. I have 2 Duo v1's and have just acquired a Duo v2, running Radiator 5.3.5 and DLNA 1.0.24.3.

The main problem I have is as follows:
With the v1, under Services > Streaming Services > ReadyDLNA I could select individual directories and specify the content types, so I have /c/media/Music as (you guessed it) Music; /c/media/Pictures as Pictures, etc.. This way my clients only see what they need to see: my TV, for instance does not "see" my Music, which I don't want to play through the TV. It makes navigation on the client easier.
I can't seem to do this on the v2 - unless the sadly new-fangled UI is getting the better of me (wish they'd stuck with the old version). I can only seem to add a share, select DLNA off/on and the type of content globally for that share.

I could edit the minidlna.conf file, but that may have other repercussions that I'm not aware of. Any ideas?

I just create a share for each relevant media type; one for video, one for music, etc. Then you point the various clients to the share they need.

Sounds like you are not using DLNA.
