Lost control over the Duo.. No Frontview access

Postby Rabalder » Fri Feb 27, 2009 5:29 pm

Starting a new thread on request:

Total mess for the moment..
Started last nite with no access at all to the Duo. Raidar reported a solid blue dot and bad disks.

After pulling disks in and out suddenly the nas started responding in Raidar again.

Initially I could reach the:8080 for the BT ...but not the xxx/admin

Now I cannot in anyway get in control of the duo.
Raidar looks fine, and I can reach the data through the network but I cannot reach Frontview...it just does not respond........
Have tried a reset of the duo.
have tried IE7 and Firefox latest

I can streem to my Popcorn and play around with the files through windows..

I WANT TO BE IN CONTROL!

What do you mean by this?

Have you tried: faq.php#How_do_I_re-install_the_firmware%3F

What does RAIDar report in the Info field?

From being dead we tried swapping the disks, starting without disks etc etc and then it started running.

Firstly the Bittorent :8080 worked fine and was accessable but after some 48hrs or so it also went dead. (Nothing unusual though for the BT client ;) )
Frontview is not accessable at all, seems like https: is not a valid

Files are fully reachable through windows.
LLink works fine in streaming video to my Popcorn

I have tried the linked firmware reload, maybe I am letting loose of the pin too quickly during the first blink.

RAIDar is showing green lights and Info 4.1.4

I have though got some mails from the server last days:
"Disk 1 did not pass SMART self-assessment test. Please replace this disk as soon as possible."

and

- Possible Solution

Do you have a USB flash key handy we can use to perform a USB boot recovery?

Follow these steps:
- faq.php#How_can_I_perform_a_Boot_Recovery_using_a_USB_flash_device%3F
But use this USB Recovery image instead of the 4.1.4 in the article:
- http://www.readynas.com/download/suppor ... .5-T57.img

After that, see if the system boots up with FrontView working. That beta image has a workaround/fix for a common issue that causes what you are seeing. If it still doesn't come up, try doing a firmware re-install: faq.php#How_do_I_re-install_the_firmware%3F

Attempted todo a USB Boot Recovery. Then followed with a 'Firmware Reset'.
It did change version successfully but Frontview is still inaccessible. (4.1.5-T57)
