Readynas Pro Pioneer Available?

Postby amcfarla » Wed Mar 04, 2009 7:15 pm

I am looking to purchase a Readynas Pro Pioneer version, but every online store is out of stock (well at least the 10 online stores I looked at, including amazon and buy.com). Does anyone know if these are available for sale since I seem to not be able to find one to be purchased (but I know Netgear has released them since I have seen them on sale at one time)? One site said they would not be available till 6/3/09. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you

FWIW, eAegis has the Pro Pioneer in stock. I purchased both of my Pros from them: http://www.eaegis.com/items/data-storag ... n/list.htm

NETGEAR ReadyNAS PRO PIONEER EDITION Diskless 1GB Memory Standard RNDP600E---$1,225.00----Out Of Stock

This was from that site, so it looks like they are sold out also.

Yeah, their stock appears to change regularly and doesn't appear to be reflected in real-time. I'd drop them a line or give them a call to see what they expect for availability.

Call them after 1pm Eastern, they don't know the exact stock in the morning. I called after two and they told me the exact time when the site would be updated with new items.

Netgear store said Pro Pioneer in stock last night... so I ordered one, along with disks to suit.

Tonight, I get email ... sorry, we're out of stock. We don't know when we'll have stock again. Do you want to cancel your order?

Grrr.

This after ordering from another store which took my money and then did nothing for a month... probably because Netgear were out of stock and not shipping any. Or perhaps because they're shysters, I really can't be sure.

I don't want to cancel and buy something else, but having to wait *indefinitely* is a bit ridiculous. I'm six weeks behind schedule as it is.

Can anyone comment on whether the current stock situation is more like "there will be more in a few days" or "there will not be any more for a few months"?

After a lot of searching at the start of March, I could find no-one with stock in the UK. In the end I spoke with a local company (have used them for 20 years!) and they happily ordered one. Initial estimate of 2 weeks actually turned into about 10 elapsed days.

If you want one, accept a delay if that's the best you can find (5 years down the line, you won't remember 2 weeks of delay!) and use a store you trust to order and wait patiently is my advice :)

I put 6x1GB ES.2 Barracudas into mine - I'm really pleased with it! And expecting 5 years plus life from it.
