time control start up- host website on Duo (#8897500)

Postby tylerdurden » Thu Feb 26, 2009 9:48 am

Hi,
have some questions about ReadyNAS Duo:

1.Over Time control it´s possible to shut down the RedyNAS at a defibied time on definied day.
Is that possible with startup time too.
I know that the options for a sturtup at a definied time are not visible in control panel.
but wouldn´t that be possible over, let´s say a software or firmwareupdate?
Please excuse my unprofessionel suggestion about those things.
Would be nice if someone can explain when it´s not possible of course of the technical specifications.

To let the Duo start on control panel is my gretest wish.

2.I´ve read that I can host a homepage on the Ready NAS Duo.
For that I have to set the ssl port on the Router( my router is NETGEAR DG834GB).
This I have done. And then???

Thanks for answering.
Best regards Tyler

like i said in the german forum, call netgear support tomorrow.
the duo is supposed to do scheduled power up and down. if powerup is missing, then there is something wrong.

If ti is just that the power up option is missing, I would think that that is probably a firmware issue, no? In other words, re-installing the firmware should fix it, I would think.

Here you see my frontview as it looks now.
I can set "POWER OFF" but not set another option-the field is clear:

I have the same problem. Its almost pointless having a "power off" schedule without a "power on" schedule.

It does say this on FrontView:
Also note that some devices will not support scheduled power ON, and you will not see this option in the Action list.

But I have see threads of other DUO owners who do have this function.

Can anyone help?!?!?!?

I had contact with netgear support and they told me I should try the newest batafirmware.
I´ve done so - but it don´t work.

As I read on different sites there is a power on function in Frontview of the Duo in the models of 2008.
In 2009 this function is not available!

Support told me that the problem is well known by the developers and they try to fix it in the new firmware version.
So I think we have to wait for the new firmware!

That's the most information I have got yet. No one here knows anything about "Auto Start-Up" on the Duo and it's supposed to be the best selling model. Well I think it will be worth the wait. The Duo is awesome but my drives could last 30% longer if I can shut down for 30% of the time, not mentioning the power it will save!

Thanks for your help, any news when that firmware would be available?

nothing wrong.. its just that trying the betafirmware is a little thin.

normally they should create a new case for the problem and escalate it. and they did.
the case should go its way now until you get an answer.

O.K. thanks.
Hope the function "power on" will soon be available for me too.
I´m very satisfied with the Duo.
If I can boot it via Time Manager would be great and nearly perfect:-)
