Canon iP4000 vs ReadyNAS NV+ - printing large volumes

Postby Stan35 » Sat Mar 21, 2009 9:08 am

Hi everybody,

could anybody explain to me this behavior? I have today tried connect PIXMA iP4000 to ReadyNAS NV+. Everything went well, I am able print. But I don´t undrestand this: when I printed for example 4 sheets, the transfer rate was less than the printer was connected via ordinary USB port directly to PC, but all the proccess took abot 1 minut to start printing. Nothing to wory about well. But when I have tried pdf file of size 13 MB ( 390 sheets ), Adobe Reader reports that all sheets were sended during one minute to printer but still another aproximatelly else 300 MB were transfering during another 8 mintues to printer before printing has started. It is frustrating time. Will be anybody so helpful why is this happening and if I can somehow avoid this? I can´t imagine printing for example photos of total size 800 MB ( TIFF files ).

Thanks

As the IP4000 likely doesn't have a very large buffer(consumer level printer), that's probably the cause.
